International Volunteer Managers Day – Nov 5, 2012

23 Oct

Universally, people recognize the contribution of volunteers – in sport, health, emergency services, faith communities and the environmental lobby. Volunteers are involved in just about every aspect of service delivery in all walks of life.

Behind this army of volunteers lies an equally dedicated group of individuals  who are responsible for the coordination, support, training, administration and recruitment of the world’s volunteers.

That is why we celebrate International Volunteer Managers Day every year on November 5.

It is important to let those people know that the spirit of volunteerism is enhanced and enabled by them. Make sure you thank those who organize and manage volunteers in your local organizations.

The LACE Campaign (Live Aware, Create Empowerment)

LACE works to promote regular Pap tests and prevent cervical cancer among women in BC. Pap tests save lives by detecting pre-cancerous changes to the cervix, and LACE wants to make sure that women across BC know why a Pap matters and where to get one in their community.

Pap Awareness Week (Pap12) is an annual province-wide event, taking place at the end of October, and is the main focus of the LACE Campaign!

We are seeking volunteers to join our Outreach Team for Pap Awareness Week 2012!

Volunteering with LACE can take many different forms. We need volunteers in Vanderhoof to get the word out in the community, as well as online. Please click on the link below for more details about the activities that our volunteers can expect to participate in.

Rewarding Volunteers Isn’t as Simple as it Sounds

4 Apr

Rewarding volunteers isn’t as simple as it sounds. Why not give all volunteers a tax break?  Reimbursement of expenses, such as mileage, does not constitute a payment for volunteer time.
