Vanderhoof Riverside Park

Join us in celebrating the spawning of the endangered Nechako white sturgeon! On Sunday, May 29th, the Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative will hold a Spring Spawning Event Festival. There will be sturgeon displays and information booths around the picnic shelter area that will give visitors a better perspective on the sturgeon’s status and discuss the projects planned for the year. There will also be a guided interpretive walk around the sturgeon spawning grounds. If we’re lucky, we may even be able to spot sturgeon spawning from certain spots!

Event Highlights

  • Learn about sturgeon biology
  • Video tent
  • NWSRI display booth
  • Telemetry demonstration
  • Children’s activity centre
  • Interpretive walk
  • Bouncy castles
  • Barbecue: Hot dogs and hamburgers (come early!)

This event is sponsored by the Resources North Association, Integris Credit Union, the District of Vanderhoof, the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council and the Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative. We hope you will join us and be a part of this recovery initiative.
